Adding to the 'Nintendo Girls (mostly Princesses)' character lineup is from the company's most revered RPG series of all time - mainly serving as the central focus of every game up to date (except Link's Awakening), she gets shanghaied by the demonic Ganon and is eventually rescued and combines her Wisdom Triforce with that of Power, thanks to her one and only destined savior, Link.

Not only that, there were other incarnations of her in subsequent game chapters who end up meeting a dreadful fate concocted by Ganon and/or his supporters (i.e. the elder incarnation, put into an eternal slumber in 'The Adventure of Link'; one of the 7 maidens who didn't get sent by Agahnim into the Dark World until later in 'A Link to the Past'; the list goes on and on) until Link eventually saves her from that fate.

Despite these traits, the Official Nintendo magazine even dubbed her as" a strong woman who, with her sword and bow and arrow, is capable of holding her own in a fight". She and Link even have something with each other (even on the old DiC show, where they fuss every step of the way), and their relationship is [in/]famously regarded as the most memorable video game romances ever.
